Randy Meeks was a horror film fanatic who had a crush on his good friend Sidney Prescott.
Randy, as seen with a gang near school's fountain. While wounded, he survived the Woodsboro Murders, but Ghostface murdered him at Windsor College while he helped Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley search for the killer.
Randy Meeks was an excitable horror movie geek and Woodsboro High School student who worked at a local video store, even though he was fired and re-hired several times. He had a severe crush on his good friend Sidney Prescott, and hung out primarily with her, Billy Loomis, Stu Macher, and Tatum Riley. Randy also has a younger sister Martha Meeks. She is played by Heather Matarazzo who makes an uncredited cameo appearance. She hands the survivors in Scream 3 important information regarding "The Rules."
After Randy ate lunch with group of friends the day after Casey Becker and Steven Orth were murdered. He went to the School's water fountain and sat with Sidney, Billy, Tatum, and Stu. Then gossiped and joked about their deaths. He even suspected that Stu was the killer pointing out that Casey dumped Stu for Steve making Tatum confused because she thought that Stu dumped Casey for her. Stu defended himself saying "I didn't kill anybody". He went to work at the local video store the next day where he discussed the murders with Stu. He believed that Sidney's father Neil Prescott would pop up dead somewhere, and that Billy was the real killer. Billy confronted Randy and Stu took Billy's side and enjoyed watching Billy confront Randy in front of the other people in the store.
Randy explains the rules to surviving a horror film. Randy managed to get out of work early due to the town curfew and went to Stu's party. He stays at the house even though all the other party guests have left to see their recently murdered principal's corpse. During the climax, he is shot by Billy and crashes through a table after Billy reveals that he's indeed the killer. After Sidney believes that it is all over, Randy suddenly wakes up, alive and well. He is then punched out by Billy, who was previously unconscious. After Billy is shot by Gale Weathers, Randy reveals that the killer always comes back to life for "one last scare." Indeed, his prediction was right, and Billy wakes up one last time before being shot in the head by Sidney.
So, who's the killer this time? Dewey and Randy exchange theories
After graduating Woodsboro High, Randy and Sidney both attended Windsor College, where he took film classes. He is seen with Mickey Altieri and Cici Cooper and several other unidentified students in the film class, having a debate over whether films could have been responsible for the murders of Phil Stevens and Maureen Evans, which later developed into a debate as to whether horror movie sequels are a good thing or a bad thing.
After the murder of Cici, he and Dewey Riley try to solve the case. While Gale and Dewey try to find the caller, Randy talks to The Killer. He insults Billy, Stu and The Killer, saying he will never be famous as Billy and Stu. He is then pulled into a van, fights the killer, but he is stabbed to the death in broad daylight. Shortly thereafter, he is found by Gale and Dewey. It is revealed that Mrs. Loomis killed him, as she tells Sidney that when she heard him insult her son - Billy - she "got a little knife happy".
Randy on tape.Randy's sister, Martha, snuck onto the Stab 3 production and delivered a tape Randy made before his death. He foresaw the possibility of a third killing spree, so he warned the survivors (Sidney, Gale, and Dewey) of what to expect from a trilogy.
He was described as "a tall and gangly kid...A witty jokester who elevates geek to coolness" in the Scream script.
In Scream, Randy tells Jamie Lee Curtis to look behind her because there's a killer preparing to kill her. Ironically, Randy is played by Jamie Kennedy, and the killer is behind him, preparing to kill him at the same time.
Randy Meeks was originally going to be in Scream 3 as he would've survived his wounds and was kept hidden secretly by his parents, but was eventually cut from the film.
Fans were extremely upset when he was killed in Scream 2, so the producers found a way to bring Randy back in Scream 3. (As shown above)
Breckin Meyer was the second choice for Randy Meeks.
Randy was very genre savvy and knew what was going to come next. However, he was wrong when he said in his video tape recording that Sidney, Gale, or Dewey were likely to die in Scream 3. But he also mentioned this only happens at the end of horror movie trilogy's.
"If you were the only suspect in a senseless bloodbath...would you be standing in the horror section?"
"Now that Billy tried to mutilate her, do you think Sid would go out with me?"
"It's the millennium; motives are incidental."
"Never, ever, ever, under any circumstances say "I'll be right back." Cause you won't be back." Randy listing rule 3 of the survival roles.
"There's always some stupid bullshit reason to kill your girlfriend. That's the beauty of it all -- simplicity! Besides, if it gets too complicated, you lose your target audience."
"I cannot believe it; they get Tori Spelling to play Sid, and they cast Joe Blow nobody to play me! At least you get David Scwhimmer; I get the guy who drove the stagecoach for one episode of Dr. Quinn!"
"Oh, please! By definition alone, sequels are inferior!"
"That's why it's perfect! It's sort of against the rules, but not really. Mrs. Voorhees was a terrific serial killer,A vĂdeo of Ghostface killing Randy and there's always room for Candyman's daughter. She's sweet, she's deadly, she's bad for your teeth!" To Dewey about the idea of female serial killers.
"I never thought I would be so happy to be a virgin!"
"See, the police are off track with this shit. If they'd watch Prom Night, they'd save time. There's a formula to it -- a very simple formula. Everyone's a suspect!"
"...And by giving up my virginity to Karen Kolchak"
"Shut up. She's a sweet person, okay? We were working late putting away some videos in the porno section and ya know, shit happens."
"Oh please I'm the secret love slave of Sidney Prescott. I know obsession."
"Oh really? Was that before or after he sliced and diced?" to Stu Macher asking about where he was the night Casey Becker and Steven Orth where killed
"Stu Macher was Pussy-Ass Wet Rag." To Mrs. Loomis moments before his death
"Did you really put her liver in the mailbox? Because I heard that they found her liver in the mailbox, next to her spleen and pancreas."
"You see, you push the laws and you end up dead, okay? I'll see you in the kitchen with a knife." To Stu after he says "I'll be right back", right after Randy warned the party-goers about saying that.
Randy Meeks is easily the most interesting character ever to be created in the Epic Scream Franchise. Randy was just different than the others characters in Scream. Randy wasn't like Billy Loomis, and took a dislike to him. Randy was more like Stu Macher, in fact, the two of them were best friends, if you consider it. Randy provided the Rules, which was the most important directions put into a horror. The Rules is how you survive. Randy was a great character. Randy Meeks was the best character, only to have Deputy Dewey Riley to come in second place. Randy was amazing. Randy Meeks didn't have to be Billy Loomis, to be a amazing and great character. Randy Meeks made Scream stand out further! Jamie Kennedy played Randy Meeks so well, Jamie Kennedy and Randy Meeks are now popular. Randy Meeks is cool and great. Randy Meeks just stood out. Randy Meeks reappearing in Scream 2 was great, until they made a GREAT mistake. Great as in, huge of gigantic,.... mistake. Randy Meeks,, they kill him. How do you do that???????? No possible way. Randy Meek's death was a pile of crap. Junk. No way... why kill Randy? It was horrible. It is so digusting, how do you think of that? Killing Randy Meeks was sad and horrible. So ridiculous. Please, get real. No way. I can't stand to think that. Randy Meek's death made fans shocked and angry. Randy Meek's fan following is rising. I am a fan, not any fan. A gigantic fan.
Randy wasn't the only one that didn't like Billy. Tatum didn't like Billy either. I don't think Neil liked him either. Billy gave a bad boy vibe. In the script Stu was written as Billy's best friend not Randy's. Randy did get along better with Stu than with Billy.
Randy never planned on getting killed. He prepare the tape seen in Scream 3 becuase he knew what the rules were and that any of the original characters including our protagonist Sidney Prescott could die. Even Randy. Randy probalby would have outsmarted Roman. Having Sidney watch Randy being killed by Jill in front of her eyes would have been painfull. Dewey has survived because of Wes Craven. In slasher movies people die.
Even if Randy had survived Scream 2 Jill proably would have killed him in Scream 4 she was pretty obsessed with killing everyone who was close to Sidney.
Not really, he'd not even survive Scream 3. Roman was after people who knew of Sidney's whereabouts, he'd sure go after Randy and kill him if he didn't tell anything - and he probably wouldn't tell anything.
Randy's death was the biggest, and major reason I hated Scream 2. Scream 2 was bad, bad and bad. You can't kill Randy, he was the star. The breakout character of Scream. Has a bunch of fans.
Uh... no? Sidney is the star. And I'd say the breakout character is Dewey, that's why he was spared twice even though he was planned to really get killed off. I do like Randy, though, but I don't mind he was killed. Come on, it's a slasher series, and they wanted to show anyone could die.
The point of my post was for people to remember Randy as a human being not a character. People are upset that he was killed off. I know I have read the posts. I wanted them to feel better. People had a strong connection to Randy. They loved him like he was a real person.
Randy died being a fan favorite. Most fictional characters weather their from the movies or tv lose their appeal over time. Randy went out on top. Randy was a great character and he will be missed. I know some of you wish Randy was still with us. Randy's will forever be in our hearts. Dewey started out as a fan favorite. That's why Wes Craven decided to left him live. Dewey was scripted to die in the first two Scream movies. Over time Dewey has lost his appeal. From what I read on his boards the fans feel that Dewey has outlived his usefullness and it's time to die.
Yes Randy was a great character but he was slaughtered by Debbie Loomis it just wasn't possible for him to survive. Also if he hadn't died we wouldn't had been able to get characters like Charlie and Robbie they were this generations Randy Meeks. Yes Charlie was alot like Randy before we found out that he was alot like Stu Macher too.
If Randy was alive there would still be characters like Robbie and Charlie. Randy would have got along with Robbie and Charlie due to the fact their film buffs. Charlie compared himself with Randy when in fact he was his generations Stu Macher. The film student besides Robbie and Charlie looked up to Randy.
Vermont Jrf I request your presence at Scream 5 because someone wrote a crappy script and I need your guys opinion. And Vermont I am sorry about being a jerkoff about the Randy thing I want you to know I have moved on but I still miss him
Someone here said ( I don't remember if it was Randy's page or Stu's page) that Randy had the right to call Billy names not Stu. Stu was his friend. Randy didn't like Billy. Stu was his friend. Randy's opionon of Stu changed when he realized he was a serial killer. In a way he had reason to diss them. Billy was a mama's boy and Stu was a want a be who tryed to hard to be someone he isn't. Randy didn't know that Mrs Loomis was the new Ghostface killer. Randy though it was just some copycat killer.
Of course he had reason to 'diss'them! After they had killed a load of people and tried to kill him, Randy had every right to bad mouth them. I would have said alot worse. They were psychotic murderers! What a stupid argument this is.
It was a very bold and risky move, but I understand why it was done. They needed to shock the viewers and make them think anyone could die (not entirely different to why Drew Barrymore ended up doing the character who dies right away in the first movie). I mean, if Randy, the horror genre savvy, a survivor from the original massacre, got killed... no one is safe.
Yes it was a very bold and risky move because not only were they killing a original survivor they were killing off a popular character and it was shocking to see how brutally Debbie killed him.I do wonder if Kevin and Wes regret that decsion a little bit though?Seeing that some fans really loved him and wanted him with Sidney, I personally think they made the right decision because like I said he has become a legendary figure.
Sidney, Dewey, Gale and Randy survived the first film. Someone had to go early in Scream 2 in order to convince us that anyone could die, and they picked Randy. Same reason why Cotton was killed in Scream 3. The fourth one is the exception because of the whole new generation thing.
Actually Charlie was more like Randy then Robbie, he evens says he's the Randy Meeks of this generation when he is in the kitchen with Jill and Sidney at Kirby's .
Like I said I'm not that upset about Randy's death in fact it made him into a legendary figure in the saga.. He is who we compare all the horror movie geeks in the saga to.
Excuse me, I found that very rude and disrespectful. I would highly appreciate it if you attempted to respect other users. This is your first warning. :/
You know it's not all the way impossible for Randy to be dead. You remember in scream 3 he knew their was going to be a third killer. And he knew that their was a second killer.Randy being a film geek don't you think he was prepared for an attack. What if he wore a special vest?Extremly strong and the top layer completely filled with corn syrup. And what if he survived the throat slit its the movies. What if Misses Loomis cut his throat extremly barely. He could still come back just he can't talk he can use sign language.Place your thoughts please
i like randy to but there is no way for him to be alive mrs loomis butchered his the shit out of him and i am not sure about this but i think she slit his throat
i hated when mrs loomis killed randy (fuck you mrs loomis) but i didnt mind the movie just because one of your favorite character dies doesnt mean you have to hate the movie
I wish Randy Meeks didn't have to die in SCREAM 2.It is impossible to bring him back from the dead nobody could of survived that but the actor who played him Jamie Kennedy should play a different character who is kinda like Randy Meeks but different.
